[proFit-list] Next version wish list

Hello proFit community,

One easy and one hard thing I’d like to see in the next version of proFit:


  1.  I’d like an option in the Preview and Curve Fit windows for Auto to only apply to the dataset and not the function. Quite often for my data, the current values of the function are way out of the current data range and so my actual data becomes visually compressed.
  2.  I would like a more interactive Python interface with a common namespace that included all the Python programs and functions. I know we can do a little bit in the results window but something like IPython could be very useful for iteratively developing the sorts of programs I write. Also, I tend to have lots of little procedures that I copy and paste from program to program (e.g. to find an empty row or empty column in a dataset, to find a column with a name that matches a regular expression or create one if it doesn’t exist) and it would be nice if these could just be loaded on startup and available for any further program I might write.
